The appropriate battery for your forklift

The appropriate battery for your forklift

Lift trucks play a crucial role in countless warehouses, factories and logistics operations around the world. These rugged vehicles make it possible to lift and move heavy loads efficiently, increasing productivity and keeping operations running smoothly. When considering the performance and reliability of a forklift, choosing the right battery is critical.

In this blog post, we take a closer look at the importance of that choice for your lift truck. We discuss the different types of batteries available and the factors to consider when making your choice.

Traction batteries

An important part in our product range are traction batteries for forklifts and also for other intralogistics. Batteries for these applications must be particularly cyclic resistant.

In addition to the special requirements of the vehicle to be driven, the individual load plays an important role in putting together the suitable battery solution. Your choice also depends on whether the machines have rest periods or are operated constantly using replacement batteries.

The criteria for the right charging technology are voltage, current, charging curve and charging time.

Brands

We work with several manufacturers including the OE brand Hawker EnerSys.

Hawker EnerSys offers several battery technologies, with the NexSys with advanced technology clearly on the rise!

What's so special about the NexSys?

The advantages in use are numerous and provide cost savings: short charging times, interim charging, no battery switch required and also no maintenance. In 2015, the technology was further optimized, improving expected service life, flexibility in use and charging profile. With their increased energy density and fast charging capability, these virtually maintenance-free batteries can be used at any time and can be recharged whenever possible.

Offering the NexSys?

Standard Package

The standard package is suitable for standard applications requiring a high-performance battery with an energy throughput of up to 100% per day, with limited interim charging. In addition, you benefit from virtually no maintenance, greatly reduced gas emissions and the highest possible number of charge cycles for lead-acid batteries: up to 1,450 cycles at a 60% depth of discharge. On top of that, you can use the batteries seven days a week.

Fast package

Unlike conventional lead-acid batteries, which discharge to a certain point and then need to recharge for 8 to 12 hours, NexSys' Fast package is completely flexible, giving the user more autonomy. The specific charging profile ensures that the battery is quickly recharged, in less than four hours assuming a 60% depth of discharge, and allows as many interim recharges as needed. In the process, the NexSys batteries are not damaged: The state of charge increases from 40% to 80% in one hour and to 98% in two hours.

NexSys batteries can be used in the following traction applications:
  • Forklifts
  • Reach trucks
  • Pallet trucks
  • Order pickers
  • AGVs
